WTB's Weir Escapes Harm in House Fire

NOVATO, CA (BRAIN)—Mark Weir's Marin County home—that he shares with his wife, Sue, and son, Gus—burnt down Sunday evening, as a fire broke out in the garage and spread throughout their home.

The family got out safely after being alerted by the fire alarm system.

Jason Moeschler, who works with Weir at WTB, pulled up on the scene Sunday evening as the street was closed by fire trucks. Moeschler said that Weir's garage contained "one of the most magnificent collections of high end bikes ever assembled, not to mention the lifetime collection of tools and cycling memorabilia.

how tragic. he is a good ambassador for trail access. i hope they do a good investigation on the cause, because of all the anti-bike nazi's that live in marin.
=''( that sucks dearly, but must say how happy I am no one was hurt.
Man, I've often thought of the fire loss of a home as being about one of the worst things than can happen to an individual short of the death or terminal illness of a family member or for one's self. Think about everything that's in your house, garage, shop, etc. And the irreplaceable memorabilia for just about anyone, whether famous or not. I feel for the guy and his family for sure. Everyone's safe so that's the most important thing for sure, but it can sure leave a big hole in your life.

Very well said. How very true. I am glad everyone is safe.
terrible news, I hope everything wasn't lost :(
I was just thinking about Mark, looking at the bikeskills ad. That really sucks, although glad the family is fine. Hope at least he was well insured...although you can never get your bikes back that way.
ugh!

That's awful news. Thankfully everyone is safe.

Good vibes go out to the Weir family.
