Weekly Ride Reports 12/4 - 12/10 Distracted

By other things this morning, wanted to ride but went to sleep thinking of my ongoing garage storage project. Woke up ready to have at it. Finished up this afternoon with my overhead storage increased and an attic ladder installed to reach it.

Rode Big Chief in Truckee with my buddy. Rented him an ebike. A bit chilly when we started, but a beautiful day and amazing trail conditions.

cool and dry in auburn, the trails were running fast but i was not on my game and biffed the drop on culvert. ☹ so i rode like a wuss for the rest of the day. still fun, tho.

farting around with some “shin cam” footage at mammoth bar ohv:

and although i eventually want to go to a coil spring fork, i've been pleasantly surprised with the performance of the lyrik. yup.

47 degrees at 11:00am in Scotts Valley today. It's been a while since I rode in pants and long sleeves!

I'm jonesing to jump back into RCs lately. Race or bash, and where at?

I've got mad respect for the winter weekday post work riders on cold nights. Bonus point when starting the ride after it's already dark and cold. Takes serious motivation to get out there when it's way too easy to just go home and chill.

I started with RC Crawlers three years ago. Now I have many of the bashers including Arrma's and the XMaxx. Still mostly crawl since more accessible. San Jose area. Sometimes Pescadero or Diablo.

You still have cars?

It's either really pretty there or really gray. So I check the cam before driving out.

Oh nice. You ever run your bashers at some place like Calabazas or Shells?

I still have a Losi XXT from the mid 90s that I may revive but I've really been eyeing a RTR short course truck lately because I grew up on Mickey Thompson's Off Road Grand Prix and love the look. Starting to wonder if a straight up basher would be better though. Would eventually look to get into a racing buggy to run at the NorCal races and a micro crawler for the backyard.

Yes, I live near Calabasas so I run there and in the gulley beside it. Short course trucks haven't changed in 10 years so they're a little stagnant. I would recommend:
Arrma Senton (small short course)
Arrma Mojave (big short course beast)
Traxxas Maxx (lil gnarly basher)
Losi and other options: Electric Powered 1/10 Scale RC 4wd Short Course Trucks - AMain Hobbies

Amainhobbies is the best online for sure!! Electric Powered 1/10 Scale RC 4wd Short Course Trucks - AMain Hobbies

Where do you live? I have bike friends with a track at a corner in Carlmont, Redwood City now.

Doesn’t count unless you post video on Mile or XXX.

Its kind of a tough window here cause i want to ride after work, but all of the restaurants close at 9 so on quite a few occasions i have had beer and toast for dinner.
Got in a good one this morning after some rain last night.
