The warm weather and delayed winter was nice while it lasted but enough is enough. The snow will be measured in feet and the resorts will finally be able to start turning the lifts. Maybe I will even go snowboarding this year? In the mean time it is new bike day around here. Orbea Rise H30, XC summer is over and E winter is back. Time to go shake it down later today before into the shop for upgrade surgery.

Very frosty out there this morning.

The multiple feet of snow at altitude and rain lower down the mountain will mean I wont be using my Tallboy for a week or two. Seems like a good time to give it a full teardown and take it in to get the bearings replaced. Also need to find out why the rear lower link doesn't fit easily into the frame.

Did an 18th Birthday ride with my son. They grow so fast. Also discovered that the incident detection on my Garmin works. It will ask you if you need help after you run off line, into a bush, and shove your seat straight through your nuts as the bike stops and you don’t.

Headed out to Lime Ridge for a couple laps this morning. Beautiful day and great weather. Trails were running great minus the usual ruts and braking bumps. Lots of other bikers out enjoying the trails as well.

Was a nice way to get out before the storms hit and I switch to snowboard season with the bike taking more of a backseat.

Almost 4" at Demo already plus another 1.1" yesterday.

You'd think the next few weeks would be the most opportune time for our holy trail stewards to come in and fix up Flow but in typical SCMTS fashion... that ain't happening :(

I recently turned my loaner into a 1x, so I took it up Aptos Fire Road today to see how rough the gearing would be on my brother. It turned out pretty good (I think, we'll see what he has to say...) The view from Sand Point was stellar: crystal clear all the way down to the bay, with storm clouds up high, and the sun shining between them to illuminate showers over the water.

The fire road itself was frequently quite mushy, and crisscrossed the whole way with small creeks of runoff. I expect it will be quite a while before the softer alternate routes down are good to go.

Campus was busier than I’ve ever seen. Everyone trying to get that last hero ride in before rain 2.0.
Same. Parking was absolutely packed at 830 and that translated to congestion on the trails in a way that I've never seen before. Bunch of very large groups out there, too. Just as well that everyone got their rides in because I've read reports that the Santa Cruz mountains got almost 10 inches of rain from this storm, and therefore things won't be dry by this weekend.

A loaner that no one wants to borrow. 🤣

Unfortunately, I'm sure the lots will be filled with a bunch of people this weekend.

Of course I just got an email that the last of the parts for my FS that I bought specifically to ride UC that were supposed to arrive in September are due this week. At least I'll have plenty of time to put it together.
