Thinking about playing hookie from work and heading up to the mountains to ride either Dupont or Pisgah. Looking at the forecast we are looking warm and clear for the next 3 days. Anyone want to comment on the trail conditions or if anyone feels like doing the same let me know.

Good news is it is warm enough to melt some snow
Bad news is that melted snow just adds to the muddy/soft conditions

I estimate it would take about ten days of above freezing and sunny weather to clear things up. That isn't in the forecast this time of year. And BTW - there's an 80% chance of rain starting Wednesday evening and through Thursday. NWS

Bent Creek:

My back yard is a sponge, but I got excited about having the day off and decided to snag an afternoon ride on access roads. Figured that would be a safe bet.

Guys showed up to bury a cable. Said it would take "about an hour or so". The mini-Ditch Witch sank into a low area of the yard. Nice.

Walked to RP road. It might look ridable from the parking lot, but was a gooey mess a mile up at 3 p.m.

Plus/minus day off. I have a clean garage, laundry is done and a really sweet new double track is gouged into the yard. Cable guys are still here...

Cycle-cross anyone?

I went to dupont with the kids today. some trails are OK many others are still covered in snow and ice.

I rode pisgah last weekend near the fish hatchery. daniel ridge and cove creek are in great shape. long branch> butter gap> cat gap is good untill the last half mile near the hatchery it turns into and ice flume, Some of the steeper sections on that last bit are hrd to walk.
