Hey all! I am just wondering about how well my trek 820 will hold up in bikepacking. Do you think i should go easier on this bike? Or do you think the bike will hold up well? Its a 2013. Thanks!

Does it have a cassette or freehub? Most mt bikes do well. Carry how you can with racks and bags, run some bigger tires.

yep...depends on how and hwere you ride it, and how you maintain it...I still have my Trek 830 from 1994, and after 20+ years, it is still going as my main commuter. I did 2 ears of bike courier with that, as well as single track and off road in the 90's; commuting etc

due to it's ancient geometry, i could not imagine riding it as a bike packing bike now, plus I have my Krampus, which I bought specifically for bike packing and my other all around riding

If you keep the weight of your loading to a minimum you should be fine.
You will learn as you go what stuff is and isn't needed.
I started with a basic off the rack Specialized hardtail MTB.
That led me to a custom Surly Troll build which after several long journeys I know I would build another just like it if needed.
Another vote for Surly as a fine bikepacking steed.
