Why would a HS be better for that than 2 chainrings? The LAST thing I would want for sand is a barely sealed planetary gear system. :eekster:

I think the main question here is simply "Why not?" The man just wants to put a HS on his fat bike.

Most importantly, that article has nothing to do with putting a HS on anything other than a Lynskey. How is this getting any closer to a 100mm bb HS?
