I am rather disapointed by the rather small, to almost non-excisting, number of Washingtonians that are attending this year's August By The Sound 04 Gathering. If you are interested, or had not heard about it until now, go to the passion mesasge forum. the link is on the right side of the screen. hope you can make it.

What: ABS 04 gathering
Who: hosted by Mellow Yellow
When: August 20-22, 2004
Where: Winthrop, Washington aka Methow Valley

Email me if you have any questions or if you would like to be signed up to the update list. Hope you all can make it.

TB-Its a gathering of mountain bikers up in Winthrop. Mellow Yellow has done this before with pretty good turn out. It looks like interest is low this year. My only guess is that the BBTC has already had about 3-4 campouts and the same potential pool of riders belong to BBTC. The MTBR board has the least amount of activity also of the three mountain bike forums that I know of Ridemonkey, BBTC-Yahoo and MTBR.

Yeah, for some reason, this forum has slowed some. Borrego, thanks for the lift back to camp Saturday. I needed it.

Mellow Yellow, the fact that it's not by the sound may be an issue this year too. Winthrop in August sounds unbearable. I just spent a week in the Teanaway and it was HOT!

BTW: I'm the guy you hauled off the scree field last year just below the Palisades when we wrecked on the switchbacks at the last ABTS. I just did not know it was you until later. I shoulda stopped by for that beer. Thanks again for hauling me back up on to the trail. :)

Well, I figured that hanging out in Winthrop in what is the hotest time of the year will completely dovoid your body of water, making it even more ready for the subsequent 8 months of rain we have ahead.

Glad to be of assistance during your momentary time of crisis :p Hope to see you on the trails at some point soon.

Well, at least it's a good reason to hang out on the deck of the Duck Brand well into the evening with a cold one. I hope that you guys get a good turnout after all.

If I recall, you just got a "big bike" the ABS weekend last year?

Yeah, I got a new bike but being that it's a big hit bike, It will be staying home. These trails are all XC so it would be more of a pain in the arse to try to ride out there. I'll hope that the Inferno will be done by then. I'm having brake availability issues.

2 Gatherings on the same weekend is a little bit of it. Not sure which one got the date first, but I'm going to Canmore. I was in Winthrop last weekend, IT'S HOT, just incase you didn't already know, but I'm sure you do. According to some locals it's cooled a little, they had 105 deg a week ago, there abouts. Have a good one MY.

Canmore's gathering was the same weekend as mine. Oh well, no big deal. I did post mine first; but i'm not going to get in to a pissing contest over it. Have a great time. Take lots of pictures. Maybe I'll make it out there next year.
