WAAYYY OT: Question for '94 Saturn Owners (or thereabouts)

I recently purchased a used 94 Saturn Sedan... High miles, decent shape, yada yada yada.

It's been serving me well since I purchased it, but then this weekend, the Alarm has set itself, so everytime I open the door, it goes off. The only way to stop the alarm is to hit the keyless entry. Prior to this time, you could open the door without the keyless entry, and now, you can't even start the car without it...

FWIW, the keyless entry has two buttons, a black circle, and a lime-green oval. The circle locks/unlocks the car, and stops the alarm from blaring once it goes off, I can not figure out what the green oval does.

The alarm automatically engages after about a minute of non-activity.

Hope someone out there has some experience with this. (and I hope it was not an aftermarket alarm, or I'm really screwed!).

Thanks, sorry to post so far OT, but I was hoping to get some help.

Try...

If it is a factory alarm, try disconnecting the battery, and leave it for a few minutes. When you re-connect the electronics can reset. This works with some electrical things in cars. BTW the car might shift funky, as it has a "smart" transmission, or at least my 95 did. Everytime the battery was disconnected, the car had to re-learn my driving patterns and shifted funky for a bit.
Hope this helps.

I'll try that, thanks.

I also emailed the person who sold it to me and they were kind enough to reply quickly. Could not offer much advice, but did tell me that it was an aftermarket alarm, but was installed by a Saturn Dealer. They gave me enough info that if nothing else pans out, I can call the dealer (in NY) and ask them to check records.

I know this all sounds odd, but it is otherwise a perfectly good car, but a real PITA if I can dis-arm the alarm.

Funny thing is that I learned about this late on Friday night. I was out riding with the guys. Told the wife I'd be home by 8-ish, came strolling in at 10:30 hoping she would be asleep and I could sneek in. That was when the alarm went off.... Ooops.
