Toying with the idea of selling the VP Free for a Socom frame, would like slightly slacker HA and a slightly lower BB.

However i admit my main reason is to save a little weight (and own an Intense).

How much lighter is the Socom than the VP, if at all?

Your budet option would be to put a 8.5 inch shock on the vp. lower and slacker. Rides way better. If you got the cash socoms are nice though...

What's your riding style? If it's more on the FR side of things (since you ride a VP Free...), the Socom might not be your best bet. Could be a bit fragile from what I understand (I was told by the importer here to stay away from it, since I do a fair bit of FR...).

Yeah, i'm thinking that since the Socom seems to be a bit fragile and the weight saving seems minimal anyway, i might steer clear.

Never heard of any issues with VP Free durability, so i might just keep it and find a shorter i2i shock.

Probably just grass is always greener syndrome. I love the bike.

Yup, what he said- the Socom definitely needs a rider with more finesse. I broke my first one, and now re-building it for my GF. The bike would prefer to jump over rocky sections instead of plow through them. It is an awesome bike though, tracked really well (when I got the slacker drop-outs) and was a blast going balls-out down hill:thumbsup:
