I should be getting my VP free back from the powdercoater sometime this week then the build begins! My goal is to keep it UNDER 44lbs and thats with a shiver and SIC bar/stem  the main saving points are gonna be wheels and crankset, everything else I have is decently light. I was going to go with a Ti spring but they really don't seem worth it for the price to gram ratio.

Post up your weight and some of the main things that make a differnece in weight savings!

So you're tubeless? I'm kinda hesistent to go that route for some reason, I get ALOT of flats. I see you're also running more than one ring up front, I'll only have 1 so that should save *alittle*

Sounds like you're a perfect candidate for Stan's tubeless. I used to get a ton of flats, 70% of which were pinch flats. Kinda hard to get pinch flats with no tube. Once you get used to the different process of installing tires and maintaining them with Stan's, you will appreciate the lower tire pressure, and better/more reliable performance with tubeless. I ride a ton of miles per year on 2 different bikes setup with tubeless, and I probably have 3-4 tire issues per year, most of which I can ride to the car. A lot of people are afraid of dealing with different tools to solve tire flat problems, but the reliability improvement is grande once you know what you're doing.

My Free is an XL, and it might even be closer to 40lbs, I haven't weighed it with these new Specialized Enduro 2bliss 2.4's

Thats what I was going to ask you next, I'm trying to find a decent tire around 1000g, the minion isn't much lighter from the norm but its such a good tire. I'm probably going to go 823/hadley with sealent i can't imagine running it w/o sealent. I haven't heard anything about stans wheelsets, the rim is supposed to be lighten than a 823?

What made you choose that color? I bought mine black and am having it changed to "Refrigerator gloss white"

I would stick with a rim maker who's only job is making rims. I've heard plenty of negative reviews about Stan's rims.

I chose Candy Green because I wanted something that nobody else has, and Santa Cruz is not doing a green this year. I've owned 3 white bikes, this bike was white, time for something different. This green looks much different in person, I can't seem to capture it's true color on camera.

I've got a large Free and it weighs 39.5 lbs!

Large powdercoat balck frame w/ DHX 5.0
888rc with the "Works"
Hayes Mag 8" with dangerboy levers
Mavic d3.1 UST rims on hope hubs, Octopus UST tires
Sram X.0 drivetrain, new style XT cranks w/ external bearings, LRP
Tomson post, laser V saddle, Easton bars, etc. etc.

If you're looking for a great tubeless tire, try the hutchinson octopus UST. They came on my AC1 a couple years ago, and thats all I've used since. I love these tires, and they're lighter and wider than most other UST tires out there. I'm a big guy and used to pinch flat ALL THE TIME (like every other ride)! With tubeless, I've only had 3 flats in the past year.

Your pic is too large, you need to re-size it.
