Well, depending on what your idea of "budget" is, you could do a lot worse than consider the Singular Hummingbird.
The best handling bike I've ever ridden - stable and yet ultra responsive, "planted" at speed while still being agile in slow trialsy conditions.
It's all down to head angle/rake and trail, of course, and this is one advantage to buying the frame with the forks specifically designed for it - I have an Explosif set up as a 69'er with 440mm Salsa forks and although it handles pretty well at low speeds it can't hold a candle to the Hummingbird once you start to pick up speed - and the faster you go, the more it all seems to come together.
