My husband and I are going to Colorado next week, hanging out on the front range with my family (about halfway in between Fort Collins and Denver). We're driving in from Austin, TX.

The main reason for this trip is for family related events, but we're also bringing our bikes with us. Even though I was born and raised in CO, I never mtn biked any trails on the front range (I was too poor to buy a bike). My husband has ridden some trails near Boulder and Golden, but I was curious where the must-ride places are in Fort Collins area are?

Any other recommendations for Colorado front-range rides would also be appreciated!

My husband and I are fairly capable mountain bikers, but I'm sure that the elevation changes will be VERY challenging for us.

Also, any recommendations for dog-friendly places to do day hikes would be great!

like the last post said for more desert like riding...i love horsetooth...

if you want to head up to the mountains a bit, there is lots to see....or the sourdough area north of nederland... so many options.... let us know a bit more of what you are looking for and if you need someone to show you around, pick a day, i am a teacher and off for the summer... sometimes its tough to find folks to ride with mid week..all those people with year round jobs...

Thanks for the recommendations!

I think most/all of the riding will probably be during the week. we may need to take you up on your offer to show us around! :) (thanks in advance!)

As far as what we're looking for.... hmmm.. I just want to ride something fun, which I think probably describes anything out there.

Unfortunatley, I don't think we'll be able to do any all-day rides.

I'll post up again, once we're in CO, and perhaps we can meet up at Horsetooth Mountain Park, billybobzia?

Thanks Mike

When will you be in Austin? Next week?

Many in the biking community here frequent the www.bikemojo.com/speak forums. The Austin Voodoo forum is the one that gets the most posts/attention for the Austin area.

Here's another site that describes the trails around here.

If you decide to go on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, see if you can get some of the bikemojo folks to show you around. There are some cool trails that branch off of the main trail - those are the most fun, but it can be a maze out there, so it's good to have a guide. I myself don't know my way around them yet... You'll probably get the most miles in on this trail.

If you like ledgy technical stuff, City Park is lots of fun.

I live near Walnut Creek Park - much smoother than the two I mention above - lots of fun on a singlespeed.

We made it! Staying with my sister and her family.

Hey Icegeek :) - where is Casa de MTB?

How's the weather been these past few days? Looks like it's been rainy. Will anything be rideable by Monday-ish?
