Anyone have thoughts on these wheels?

Specs are:

BRAND: Velomax (Velomax was recently purchased by Easton)
MODEL: ROGUE with 28 spokes rear, 28 front
For standard tires in the typical 26 inch mountain bike size
8, 9 and 10 speed Shimano Cassette compatible
V brakes or cantilever brakes, not for disc brakes

I had a set of Velomax road wheels - the Ascents. Velomax's marketing claim was the proprietary spokes which screw into the hub are supposed to greatly reduce the chance of breaking spokes by eliminating the elbow bend, especially at super high tension. Ironically, my Velomax wheels were the only wheels I had that broke a spoke. Other than that the wheels were fine.

Personally for MTB I'd shy away from proprietary components for wheels. Waiting on parts from the manufacturer is a PITA, and given the lack of popularity of these wheels, it's not likely that this design will be supported by Easton for much longer.
