Uzzi VPX or Stinky Supreme

OK, I have a 2005 Stinky Supreme (like the Stab Primo frame) that I love. I ride at Snowshoe quite a bit and it is great on the downhill runs, but I struggle a bit in the terrain park.

What I like abouti it on the DH stuff is the 8.3" travel, floating brake for active suspension and the long wheel base. I feel super stable at speed and feel I can hit anything.

On the other hand, when I ride in the terrain park (or anywhere other than Snowshoe), the long wheelbase and chainstays make it a little difficult to ride ladders, manual, etc.

I love the bike, but I'm struggling now to decide if I should sell the frame and get something a little more capable as a freerider and lose a little on the downhill such as a Uzzi VPX. From what I've looked at, it seems to be about the perfect balance as the wheelbase for the large frame is only 44.625", the chainstays are over an inch shorter and so is the top tube. I guess I should have gotten a medium frame Stinky Supreme, but I'm not sure if that would have helped.

Any thoughts?

Id say go with the Uzzi, my friend has the Stinky supreme that I ride often but youre right about its flaws.
i got the uzzi

i say get it. the reasons you want it are why i dont like it for dh. i just rode it at mt creek this weekend. i feel its too short for serious dh. it can handle anything on the mountain but dosent have the same feeling as a 47in wheelbase ultra slack dh frame. it did rail all the turns/burms and wall rides at the creek. the rear suspension was plush and never felt over powered. my uzzi is getting all my lighter build kit and going to be used for my xc rides. it climbs so good for a 8in bike. the traits you are looking for are there in the uzzi. it will fit your style perfect. i bought a v-10 because i like to be glued to the ground. what size are you looking for? i have a med laying around.
I race DH on my Uzzi (recreational, not too serious) and on our courses, it's perfect. We have a lot of tight turns and low-ish speed tech stuff, which the Uzzi excels in. I think it's probably a bit short for really high speed stuff, but it's stable enough for any speed I'll ever go... The low BB does make it a bit more stable at speed than the wheelbase suggests and it's so easy to flick around and pedal..... Such a fun bike.

Not to nitpick, but it's not really the Supreme's flaws, per se. The Supreme is built to be a DH / race bike and, as such, the longer wheelbase is a benefit at high speeds. Definitley not as ideal for tighter stuff or as "shore" friendly.....

The uzzi is definitely going to be more versatile by the nature of it's design. Shorter chainstays and wheelbase, steeper headangle, mult. chainrings (ability), etc. If you want something that can handle Snowshoe, but also be ridden elsewhere, that's the direction that I'd head.

your pretty much right but the stinky is marketed ad a freeride bike alhough its the same as the downhill stab
That is the worst question i have ever read, get the Uzzi. I do it all on mine, I have ridden the stinky too, and the Uzzi is a far superior bike...
Probably go for the VPX.

I don't really agree that the VPX is a far superior bike. The Stinky Supreme (Stab) frame is awesome on the downhill runs. I have zero complaints about that. I just don't know if the frame fits my needs best. Seems the the VPX might be a better fit for me.

I'm most likely going to be getting a large, but I'll have to ride both first to see.
The Large has a 33in. standover height, which is quite high. I'm on a med. a little short, but i'm used to it now. I just meant that the Uzzi is a superior all around bike...
What if I'm 6'1"

I'm just over six feet tall and have a 32" inseam. Think I should go for the medium or large?
i would probbly go w/ the Uzzi. BUT if u really really like the feel of ur Stinky Supream , have u thought of getting just the regular Stinky. ya it has 1'' less travel, but most of the time u cant tell a diff between 7'' and 8'' of travel. it also has a shorter chainstay and wheel base, alowing for better handeling on sharper turns, and more tech, stuff like ladders. yet it also holds its own when riding/racing DH. even though the Stinky is marketed and proven as a freeride bike, its roots are firmly planted in DH.
I'm 6' on the Med. You might want to go Lrg. I really like a smaller bike so the Med fits me pretty well. Try and ride one, Or a 6.6 is about the same as far as toptube length, but has alot more standover...
