After 4 days of impatient waiting, the new XT Octalink crankset & BB shows up. As the pics show, the outside ring of the BB interferes with one of the set screws on the eccentric. I "machined" the washer, but found the allen head will still not clear the BB cup. Am I SOL? Suggestions?

Edit: If I back off the cup slighty to where the notch in the cup is, it will go together but I'm concerned that's not enough torque.

I would just remove some material from where the lock ring interferes with the screw.
Agreed......

Can't you just drill out carefully, or grind out, a notch in the lock ring once its torgued up....then the head of the allen bolt will keep the ring in place for sure.

Just mark which flange is getting in the way, take out the BB, and dremel the flange off. The outer flanges don't have anything to do with the threads, so the BB will be just fine.
