I am looking at picking up a Utopia / KaiTai / Crosstrail Comp for a around town, paved trails, misc whatever bike. I found a Spec Crosstrail Comp at the LBS, but have yet to find any of GF models to test ride. Currently I have a HiFi 29er so am leaning toward the GF models. Does anyone have strong feelings on any of the three?

my 2 cents

hi
i have an 2006 kaitai i bought on sale - but new.
the only problem i had was the tires was dry.
the dealer replaced these with dryx 1.75
i really like the bike and enjoy it.

another thing is i converted my pair to ss.

and i use it for commuting and goofing around town :)

for the $ it's a great deal.
by the way i am about 215lb the frame is still fine

How much did you pay for your kaitai? I'm currently in the market for one, looking for a good base price.

My '09 Utopia has been great - I did upgrade to Juicy 3's, a big sweep bar and RXL stem, and mounted Vulpines for a little more volume. Also got a set of Bontrager Selects with Kenda Kross Supremes for longer road days (I'll never probably run a slick).

It is excellent for training and getting around the path, gravel and pavement in my area. The SRAM X5 shifters and X7 rear d work fine - Shimano front d good as well.

Ranger wheelset is clunky, though.
