Planning on taking my fatties up to Grand Marais this weekend. I could pack them inside the vehicle if we leave the dog home, or put them on the rear rack.
Wondering about the effects of road mist/salt on the bikes? Should I just lube the chain good and not worry about it?

I have had my bike on the back of the car through unplanned snow. The salt did a number on several parts, though it was thankfully a bike that I already ride on salt roads. Chain doesn't bother me since I kill one annually regardless. It is the discs, quick releases, and hubs that concern me. I carry my bikes inside if possible during the winter.

Sent on my phone. Pardon the autocorrect.

Inside is best. If you expose it to road salt just make sure you clean it well as soon as possible.

I hate road salt with a passion.
