Definitely not bad to me. If I didn't have mine already I'd get it.
Not bad at all - I wasnt aware that Shimano Saint cranks were available as a triple?
I have to be the odd man out here.

The Manitau Black 120 is too small for that bike. The axle to crown height is about 485mm. The bike was designed around a 515 axle to crown height fork which puts the geometry where it should be, ie, 69 degree HTA.

Rear shock RP23 seems to be the modern rage. I can't say about the Romic but my RP is just fine and I've ridden several bikes with the 23.

You probably will like the tire arrangement. And I do think there was a triple Saint at one time, but old.

The only thing that bothers me about that bike is the fork. I had that on my 08 Spot for a couple of weeks and DT himself sent me an email telling me to get it off the bike and go with the proper height.

I have now overforked my Spot to the 545mm Van 36. Love it!

I think you should consider about $800 for that bike and let the seller keep the fork and go buy a Fox 32 (515mm axle to crown).

EDIT: I think you can get a newer bike with better stuff on it on ebay for that kind of money. You won't get an 09, but you might find an 07 which is the same as the 08.

Yeah FC-M805 44-32-22T, not the current 810 model.
If you pick that bike up one thing I would change ASAP is that handlebar!! Those Easton CT bars in my opinion are not trust worthy!

In 2004 it was 500mm (or 505). The referal fork was Fox Vanilla 125mm.

Air shock was not so good on pre 2005/2006 5spots. Sprung rear shock is a better solution for this frame IMHO.
I would say is an ok price, the spec is kind of dated - especially the fork. But used spot frames that old are still selling in the $500 range and even used king wheels sell for $4-500 so at $1200 total, it's an ok deal. I agree with others though, a 140mm fork will work wonders on that frame. As far as the rear shock goes, search the archives because if I remember right the way to go if you want to move to air you just have to have the high volume can so it doesn't ramp up so much at the end of the stroke. That being said, if you buy the bike with plans to upgrade, then it looks less appealing since an extra few hundred dollars would probably get you a better spec or something like a new giant trance or trek fuel which gets you lesser wheels but newer parts.
Definately changing the fork, rear shock, & brakes to Hydros. Well see if he'll go down on price.
I bought mine for 1200 but it did have better parts on it. I spent about 700 on it, buying a used Chris King wheelset, and a used 140mm Fox Float.

Sold off some parts for a little over 200. So in the end 500 bucks really made the bike perfect. Which ain't bad.

You already have a nice wheelset so the extra investment should be lower.
Update: negotiated to $950 as is. He's not willing to part-out. Worth picking up now?

yes.

i have a fox vanilla 130r fork and they can be found cheap. works well.
hell

yeah!
Price looks good. I'm still thinking you might want to sell the fork to an XC'er and upgrade it to something that works with the geometry better.

Enjoy your riding.
Get it.

I have an 04 5 spot and love mine, I have a TALAS RC2 and Mavic Dee Max wheels.

I had the DHX Air 5.0 and it was ok, I have the DHX Coil 5.0 and love it.

Make sure that there is limited play in the pivots and get a grease gun for them.
Get it, sell the fork on eBay and use that cash along with the $250 you're saving to throw a Pike on it and rip!
