Urgent: Specialized Epic 69er

1501 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  steelbike
My girlfriend's brother is selling his Specialized Epic Large.

Can i put my 29er Fork in it and make it a 69er?
I have 2 29er Forks:

A Fox 10029er and a Reba 80mm 29er..

His frame size is a Large Specialized Epic Expert.

Can this be done?

He is meeting a seller tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Central Time. I want to make sure i can do this so i can intervene and buy it from him..

Thanks as always,
Gregorio

ps. sorry i did not find anything in the search about this.

I'm no expert but I see no reason why you can't do that. It will take either one of those forks as far as I know.

Think about what it is going to do to the geometry.
Are the steering columns long enough?
Think again about the geometry.
I was just thinking about that. Even with a 80mm Reba it will feel like a Downhill Bike.

Im so pissed.
maybe

Well I've seen more than one post on here commenting on a 120mm Fox fork on a epic with a 650b wheel and comments that it was great that way. Wouldn't the axle to crown of a 80mm 29 fork be similar to 26 120mm?
Talk, and thinking, are cheap, as they say. Buy the bike and try the conversion. In the worse case you un-do the fork and sell the bike. There's a good a chance it will work, but you have to be the one that evaluates the outcome by riding the bike.

These forums are too full of folks over thinking stuff.
