I am thinking about upgrading my Evolve to a Diabolus. If the BB is still in good shape, could I just keep the BB and just swap in the Diabolus cranks? Are they mechanically the same?

As long as your Evolve cranks are the new external bottom bracket models then yes, they are compatible with the Diabolus and all other "X-Type" cranks by RaceFace, Shimano, FSA, etc.
