Hey all, I bought a set of wheels with DT350 hubs and Raceface Arc 30 rims, which have been just fine thus far, but they've taken enough of a hammering on my hardtail that the rear rim probably needs replacing, and I'm moving them onto a new frame which can fit only 2.4" tires at maximum. It seems like the Arc 30 is a fairly well regarded rim, but I was also wondering if I should be looking at a DT Swiss or other rim option in order to drop a little bit of weight. If I keep the hubs, I would be more inclined to spend a little bit more on a nicer set of rims instead of having to buy a whole new wheelset. Also wondering what people's thoughts are on if it would be worthwhile to upgrade to the 36t ratchet if I'm not doing much super techy climbing.

If you are destroying the rim you have, why would you go to a lighter rim? The logical choice to me would be to rebuild the wheel with an ARC 30 HD.

DT Swiss EX511 would be my go-to. It is one of the strongest aluminum rims you can buy. The 36t ratchet would be a nice upgrade if you are currently running 10-15 pts of engagement.

I guess it depends if it is needing a rebuild as the rim is all dented or if it needs constant retruing? If it is needing the rebuild due to poor build that would be a good time to upgrade to a lighter rim?
