Ok... maybe a little dramatic, but my brake pads are in need of replacement... especially now with the RK's. Riding shimano XT discs... want something with good initial bite. I was never pleased with the stock pads (XT's I assume...)

So now your brakes feel weak? My first thought is the brakes are working fine but the tires have less grip than a deep tread tire and are slipping. Been there.

No. The tires are phenomenol and I am extremely impressed with the grip of the RK's. They do roll faster than my other tires for sure and I carry more speed throughout.

My current brake pads 1) are worn out and 2) I never liked them.

I just bought some EBC Golds. We'll see how they do...
