Upgrade Rockshox Tora 302 u-turn to solo air?

Is it possible to upgrade the tora 302 u-turn to solo air? I was thinking I could just buy a solo air assembly and just replace it with the spring? Or is it not that simple...

Yes it should be. Fortunately the Tora 302 uses a separate air tube instead of using the stanchion as the air tube. If the later was the case it would likely not work as the coil spring tends to scratch the inside of the stanchion over time and would not allow for an air tight seal. But with the seperate air tube design of the solo air spring this won't be an issue. If you can find the parts it should be pretty much a "drop in" conversion.

Good Dirt
Yeh I was hoping I could just drop an air spring in. Thing is here in the uk I can't find the 302 air assembly... Iv found the 318 air assembly, would that work? It's 80-130mm which is the same as the 302 u-turns.

I also emailed a local shop and they said it wouldn't be possible as the 302 uturns font have honed tubes so wouldn't be able to hold air?!
They appear to be the same. There is a note in the spare parts manual though, if your 302 is a 2010 you need that version otherwise the 06-09, the airspring in the same. Also, verify yours is the 302 as there is a race model that can adjust from 80-120 rather than 130 like the 302.

I have checked and they are not the race model as they have 130mm of travel.
I think iv found the correct part:

11.4015.027.000 Solo Air Spring Assy (80mm/100mm/120mm) - 2010 Tora XC/SL, 2011 Recon Silver, Argyle (use with steel upper tubes only)

Thanks for the help guys! Im trying to sort out my wifes bike, shes got the soft spring fitted but the forks just arnt soft enough for her as shes pritty light!
That one looks like the short one I was speaking about, it only goes to 120mm. You need the318 model.

Doh! Thanks for that! I was just about to click buy as well
Hi Tkm16,

if you don't mind me asking where are you getting your spares from? I damaged my Tora TK and am thinking of an upgrade during the repair process if i can do it DIY.
