My Stumpjumper came with a Fox 34 Rhythm and I’m thinking of upgradung to a non-OEM Fox 34 to save a bit of weight and maybe improve with absorbing small bumps.

I’ve read that people don’t really like the Fit4 damper and recommend the Grip over the Fit4. In this case, the only difference between the Rhythm and Performance is a weight savings since both have the Grip damper. I’m assuming that these two forks would ride about the same, right?

Or do people here think that the Fit4 is better than the Grip, and recommend upgrading to the Performance Elite?

Lastly, I could upgrade to the Factory fork and get all the bells and whistle with the kashima coating and Grip2 with HSC and LSC. All the adjustability seems daunting, but will the performance be a huge improvement over the Grip in the Rhythm?

Thanks!

The Rhythm is an incredible value. It offers 95% of the performance of the better fork while being easier to setup. To save weight, your money is better spend on a wheelset. If you want to improve the performance, looks at the DSD Runt, but before doing so, make sure you have optimized what you have with proper setups. Try some bracketing (increase pressure 5 pounds, then go 5 pounds below your current setting and seeing how it works, try 2 clicks less rebound and two more). I assume you are running the compression wide open?

Yeah, I’m running it with compression fully open. You’re not the first person to say the Rhythm is decent fork for the price, which is why I wanted to see what collective brain trust in this forum had to say.

Thanks for suggestion on the Runt. I’ll look into it.
