Thomson Stem/Seatpost
Easton handlebars
ODI Grips
For changes you can really feel, you could take a look at your seat, stem, handlbars and grips. If you're happy with your cockpit setup, then lightweight wheels and tires would be the most noticeable performance gain. Something like a DT Swiss 240S or Chris King rear wheel with SuperComp or Revolution spokes and a Mavic 717. If you're looking to blow big bucks, then get a matching front wheel, too!
ya, sure, why not.

sounds like a good idea to me...
Best upgrades?

1.) Thomson stem and seat post. Hands down my favorite upgrade so far. I went with the Elite layback post, and the 100mm stem.
2.) Specialized S-works XC carbon low rise handlebar

Then if you want to put more money into it, you could upgrade the whole component group. I did that one piece at a time, usually I'd set a personal goal (as in making it up a large hill without stopping, then on to things like riding XC trails for 2 hours without stopping.) Once I accomplished my goal, I'd buy a new component. It made it extremely fun, and rewarding.

If you still have the original Rockster tires on it, I agree that's the best place to put your bux, you can never have too many tires, hah hah! The good ones always seem to be pretty expensive too... (Blue Groove, NBX, Schwalbes etc)

Wheel upgrade would be nice too, especially for racing.
