Hi. I've got a 99 F700. I ride it exclusively on the street commuting to work. My front hub is pitted and doesn't roll smooth any more. I'm looking at buying a new set of wheels and am thinking I should upgrade to disc.

My F700 has the mounts for disc brakes on the fork and rear of the frame. I bought two sets of used Coda Expert disc brake calipers, hoses, and levers. I know everyone bags on these brakes, but I am a competant auto mechanic and feel I can dial them in to work properly. Well, I'm going to give them a try :)

I've got a few questions about hubs. I see there's standard 6 bolt iso hubs and the Shimano centerlock hubs. Will either of these work with the calipers I have? Will 160 rotors work front and rear? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey there, good for you! These are nice brakes, but they will require more frequent bleeding than newer options. That said, Cannondale still makes service/bleed kits for them, get one from a dealer, most likely they will have to order it for you. You need to use the Cannondale rotors, as they are different sizes front to rear. Smaller one goes in rear. That said you will need 4 bolt hubs, they are still out there on ebay, you may even get lucky and score a wheelset if you look long enough.I dealt with these for years, they work fine, don't listen to the naysayers=:) If you need more info down the road, contact me @ [email protected]. Good luck!

I have a stock 99 F700 and it came with a magura disk brake on the front from the factory, didn't yours have one at one time? The rear brake is a Magura hydrolic, also factory.

If you think pics of how the stock setup is would help you, I'd be more than happy to send some to you....
