A month or so ago, I purchased an '08 Trek 6000. It's been great, over all. Now that it's got a couple hundred miles on it, I'm finding the short-comings. The two biggest issues are the derailers (rear being the biggest problem). It has SRAM x-5 shifters and derailers. They kinda suck. I can change to an X-9 rear derailer without having to upgrade anything else. Is it worth it? What other options do I have?

Also, forks. The stock Rock Shox Dart 3 is okay, but the lock-out is weak and they could be better. What's an easy improvement at a moderate price?

Thanks for the suggested links!! I'll check'em out. I will say, however, that I've found the Lock-Out to be far from over-rated. It's nice to lock the fork while going to and from trails via roads.
