Here is what I have learned about the placitas man setting the traps.

Michael Delongchamp plead guilty at his hearing on April 30th. He is to be sentenced Aug. 3rd. He faces up to 20 years and a $250,000.00 fine. Due to the fact that he has showed remorse he faces about 16 years in federal prison. Also, in federal cases, judges have almost zero leaway. Also he is never allowed on federal forest land unless accompanied by his lawyer AND if it's for investigative purposes.

Sounds too good to be true.....

Let's hope he gets at least 10 years. But the way things work in New Mexico, it wouldn't surprise me if he got off with just some community service. I guess we'll know in a couple of weeks.

Not to worry Jim Beam. This is a federal case and judges hands are tied pretty tightly in federal court. I may try to go to the sentancing. I need to find out what I have to do.
