Greetings everyone

Just wanted to let everyone know about the upcoming Night Ride in Bommer Canyon.

Takes place on Thursday, July 6th, from 7:30 pm till 10:00 pm.

The ride is free, but registration is required. Just go to the web-site listed below and click on the "Let's Go Outside" tab, then sign-up online.

Here's the general information on the area.

Open Space Program Registration

On behalf of the City of Irvine, the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust will be taking registration for the public programs offered in Irvine's Open Space Preserve South beginning July 1st.

Irvine's Open Space is made up of a mosaic of habitats including, wetlands, oak woodlands and coastal sage scrub, and houses some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world. This scenic land provides both preservation of critically important plants and wildlife, as well as an area for recreation and respite.

A variety of programs including interpretive hikes, night hikes, mountain bike rides and self-guided access days are currently available. Programs are offered weekly and at no cost. Pre-registration is required. For more information and to register visit www.IRLRTrust.org and click "Let's Go Outside" or call (714) 508-IRLR.

See ya on the Trails.

i also x-posted this to the outdoorclub.org site. see you there
I work for the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust as their Field Operations Manager, specifically in the City Of Irvine Open Space Preserve-South (Bommer and Shady Canyon).

We also have a good number of Mountain Bike Trail Guides who currently help with these public programs.

this is lcwp, right? which trails will be ridden? will it be ss friendly or should i bring the geared bike? tks!
It's in the City of Irvine Open Space Preserve-South (Bommer and Shady Canyon). Nice trails and pretty SS friendly, but there is one starting hill that tops out at 36% grade, so there's some hike-a-bike required right at the beginning of the ride.

I'll probably be running my SS or my 3-speed.
