So I am almost sure I want to get rid of my manitou axel comp 120mm travel fork in the front. The back of the bike has a 5" single pivot point and I was wondering how much travel I could throw on the front of my bike to make it a good all moutain bike. I was looking at something along the lines of a Nixon Super or something between 135 and 150 please any infromation would be great, also what are some other ideas for upgrades besides the front fork.

your weight. Do you need a stiffer fork? Type of riding(i know you said AM, but lots of rocks, roots, fairly smooth but lots of ups and downs, etc) and do you want coil/oil or air sprung? do you have any brand preferences? are you willing to go to a Thru axle for added stiffness on something like a Nixon or a Pike?

on a side note: Marz AM SL for about 400 bucks at pricepoint would probably be right next to a Pike for about the same cash as my top choices, Manitou Minute 1:00 for about 240.

Another recommendation for the Pike. A stiff and light fork with a reasonable price tag.

I second the Pike. I'm 230lbs and blast downhill without any flex at all. The Pike is a miniature DH fork. Strong, light, cheap, pick three, nuff said. Buy a Pike and forget about it.

Ok. your not a big guy,so you wont need a super beefy fork. If I were you, I would seriously consider the Marz AM series. I am not a huge manitou fan, but the Nixon or minute would work. I wouldnt get a fork longer than 150mm, and I would try to stick with 130-140mm forks anyways, since that is what the bike was designed arround.

The Pike from RS would be a great fork for you, plus if you get a fork like the Pike (or anything with travel adjustment) you can move it from bike to bike, and set travel correctly for that bike or riding conditions. The donwside to it is the 20mm thru-axle, requiring a new wheel or hub,

My buddy has a Nixon, loves it. Im digging my Marz. Another buddy loves his pike, gonna get an Argyle DJ fork. All of em are good forks.
