Hi, I am looking for a mountain bike for my son who is 13. I’m looking at up to £700 and looking at a few options. However with availability it reduces the numbers a little. My son likes the look of the Kona, however I thought the boardman looked better quality. However I’m no expert myself!
Anyone able to compare the two and tell me which looks the better buy?

The Boardman is far and away the better choice.
It actaully can handle trails with rocks and roots because of the Raidon air fork.
That fork has adjustable rebound dampng and metal bushings inside.
The air side allows the sag to be set for different rider weights.
The XCT on the Kona has a spring on one side only and plastic bushings inside. No rebound adjust.
OK for smooth trails and bike paths. The plastic bushings will quickly fail on bumpy trails.
Shimano Deore 10sp is also better than Altus 8sp with a double front drivetrain.

Thank you so much for the response - with my limited knowledge all I knew was that Deore was much better than Altus! However that was where my knowledge ended!! Appreciate your help!
