I have a 9 spd. Ultegra crankset on the roadbike. It's time for a new BB...Should I go with stock Shimano? or are there "better" options?

Short answer: Shimano only, you can upgrade to Dura Ace.

Longer answer: Shimano licensed out Octalink for other companies to make cranks, but never BBs. That is one of the big motivators behind the creation of ISIS. Your other options involve getting a different crankset also.

There is only one option. The good news is that that one option is tough as nailz, and cheap, eventhough the weight is a tad on the portly side.

I've been using the mountain version of that BB and I had about 2k miles on it before I accidently blew sand in it while washing my bike with a hose. Wups!
