Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a bike TODAY and I really need help deciding.

I'm not looking to do any crazy riding just yet (pavement/bikepaths) . My budget is $500 and I've really been looking at the specialized hardrock, seen here. http://www.safetycycle.com/10-specialized-hardrock-gold.html And was wondering if anyone had any opinions on it?

Maybe someone could recommended a decent hybrid to fit my budget, and rear-end? I'm 5'11 320#.

Hardrock is great IMO. Wouldn't really consider it a hybrid though. I've been riding mine pretty hard for the past 4-5 months and it's lived up to it's name. Haven't had to touch the bike other than little shifter and brake adjustments.

I'm sure there's a lot of comparables out there, but from my personal experience, I'd definitely recommend a hardrock. Make sure you get disc brakes though!
