Hi All, New to MTB. Just got myself Scott scale 730. Currently bike came with Maxxis 27.5 X 2.8 tyre. Would like to replace them into Maxxis IKON possible for 27.5 X 2.2 to fit.
Rim : Synchros X-35,35mm Tubeless ready.

The Ikon is an XC tyre though
I get it.
But not in my book.
I know it’s not my bike but personally I consider any tire narrower than 2.4” inappropriate for mountain biking.
Again, just my opinion.
Carry on.

35mm inner is too wide for 2.2. The profile will not be as designed/intended. You might find you run out of sideknobs even in very minimal lean angles.

Pick something from Maxxis' WT series, these where all designed for 30-35mm rims and range from 2.4 (new Aspen) to 2.6. A XC tread design will still roll fast in the bigger size.

For a 35mm internal, I would not go below a 2.4. There are plenty of fast rolling, light casing 2.4-2.6 tires. If weight is that much of a concern, then lighter rims are in order anyway, which would be narrower and accomidate a smaller tire size.

Is there an XC tire with 2.4 width?

Im planning to have a set of XC, light tires for my chillax ride. I have to pedal 20km pavement to reach gravel trail.

I have 35mm inner width rims by the way.

Rekon Race and Aspen both are light (ish), fast, and come in 29 x 2.4. I run Rekon Races 2.4 on my Exie on one wheelset when I ride to a hardpacked trail and gravel.. Fast on pavement and decent grip on trails unless really loose.
