A great place for you to go would be Whiteface Mountain Downhill Park in Lake PLacid, N.Y. (SITE OF THE 1980 WINTER OLYMPICS) Not exactly close for you but we are one of the biggest (2500) vertical lift serviced mountain bike parks.eracer747 said:Former MXer, novice MTB rider. Wants to try DH.
Will be driving, so the closer to Dallas,TX the better.
Would like to take a ski lift up somewhere and ride down. No hills in Dallas.
Will need to rent a DH bike too.
Not sure where to start...
Any info would be greatly appreciated!![]()

We have 3 ladies days left this year where all women ride for free on the 1st Saturday of August, September and October ($30.00 savings).
We also rent Specialized Big Hits, full face helmets, chest protectors, etc.
Take a trip up north and escape the heat. Summer temps in the Adirondacks are usually around 70 or so on the mountain.

Definitely check the AZ/CO area, as CO definitely has quite a bit of terrain open for DH. I'd ask the locals how the mtns are, as some can be a bit intimidating. Since I doubt you want to drive to NY/New England, I can't really offer any specifics.eracer747 said:Former MXer, novice MTB rider. Wants to try DH.
