those were the old cobalt springs, the new ones are made from a new inert cosmic substance with particular sub-atomic properties that allows for non-parity systems.

so yes, its ok, it wont hurt you, your fork or any neighbouring children and pets....

Usually if you want something in-between an Extra firm spring and firm spring then you put in one of each. It is perfectly ok and it all depends on what you want.. Try a zip tie on the stanction to make sure you use are using most of your travel.
