Besides using Al bolts on the X.9 triggers, is there any other tuning possible. Both my gear indicators stopped working long ago; not that I used them. Is it possible to remove the indicators to save weight?

I've had one trigger out of 3 sets quit working and it was a pretty easy fix if you are willing to open the case .

It's happened to both of mine several times (I've fixed them each time). As for removing them, I wouldn't bother. All you could take out would be the two peices of paper, which would weight less than a gram for both. I think the gear wheel that turns them is integrated into the shifting mech and doesn't really add any weight.

If you are able to machine aluminum you could potentially replace all of the stainless steel internals with aluminum.

They are just a bunch of plates shaped differently.
