Will pick up my first full sus 29er on friday, I will run orginal tires for about a week as i get a feel for the bike.

What I am looking for is a good tire for rocky/desert terrain. some section of sand but lost of sharp rock and loose sections in the turns.

I am currently running Larsen TT on my 26 with slime and tire liners with no issues.

I have a friend running small block 8 with tubes but gets flats on a regular basis, and the side wall has 2 good sizes tears.

i am option for suggestions

thanks

Can't go wrong with a good tubeless wheelset. I've run Stan's rims, Arch and Flow, for almost 4 years with a variety of hubs and tires. I keep coming back to the WTB WW 2.55 for my SS. I weigh 190 and run 24 - 26 psi front and rear, depending on if I'm riding rigid or suspended. I can't remember the last time I had a flat. FWIW I live close to SOMO and ride a variety of trails.
