I just bought a Scott Spark 35 which comes with an x9 drivetrain matted to a Truvativ FireX 3.3 crankset and SLX front derailleur. I am considering upgrading the crank to a shimano SLX or XT. Will the shimano work better than the FireX in terms of shifting performance? Or if there is another crankset you guys recommend I am looking for lighter weight crank than the stock FireX and also something that will have worry free shifting performance. Pricepoint is < $150.

Thanks!

Shimano chainrings shift well as do their derailleurs. How worry free is all in the setup and maintenance, tho...OTOH there's not a whole lot of performance differences among cranksets and front derailleurs IMO, even when you lose a few grams.
