Suggestions if you're in Truckee. Have somebody drop you at the top of Tahoe Donner and do the DLRT. It drops down to above highway 80. From there you can decide to go up the other side. When tired of climbing, go down to highway 80 through the single track. From 80, go down to Donner lake and road burn it back to your cabin.

If you're close to Donner Lake, there's also stuff to be ridden around. Ask the bike shop.

nice little nontechnical but greatviews xc ride is emigrant trail.

take 89 north a few miles outta truckee, it's right off 89. It's right over a bridge, dirt lot on the right.

Killer views, swoopy singletrack. Fairly flat / no big hills

Truckee Trails

I second the thought on Emigrant Trail. It's a good trail especially if riding solo... since it gets decent usage. Also good is Sawtooth Trail above town. Sawtooth is more technical than Emigrant. BTW, you can get water at the end of the Emigrant Trail by riding into the campsites.

Thanks for the trail advice I think emigrant may be on my list to do. Been on sawtooth already it actualy overlooks our camp out at granit bay on 89. Kinda hoping for something a little more challenging ? Northstar isn't that far away is there more there than take the lift up and bomb down, while it sounds like fun not sure I'm up for big air and stuff. Maby a lesser gnarl of a run ?? How's the XC scene there ? Dose the village offer enough to keep the wife and kids busy while I ride for a few hours ??

I know that's allot of questions but if you don't ask then you don't know, right.

Thanks

Cruise up Western States trail off of 89 and follow it up to Painted Rock. You can then come back down from Painted Rock on the Tahoe Rim Trail to the Missing Link Trail and down Western States. It is a short but fun trail section to run. I make big loops out of it on the weekends. There are some big loops at N* you can do as far as XC but you need to know where you're going. I will be hitting up my usual after work loop using the trails by my house. I start at about 5pm and finish before dark. Sawtooth sections are part of the loop along with other fun ones. 2,200 feet and 22 miles is what it comes out to totaling. Where are you staying? I am in Sierra Meadows.

Hey dh

I'm staying at Granit Flat camp ground on 89. And is that a offer for me to tag allong on your after work ride.
I just sent my kids off with their aunt for 2 weeks up in Incline. Man it would be nice to be up there, but they didn't have a spot for me, or bike, in the van.....:skep:

Anyway, not sure exactly where you're staying but I was going to mention you hit Stanford Rock that starts near Tahoma/Homewood on 89 ( I think) and ends up by Fanny Bridge/burger joint in Tahoe City. That would be a great ride for you (maybe you've done it before?). Noticed a recent post from someone saying it was still blocked with snow though.

Hope you get some good riding in.
