Building my Troy and put on my trusty Bontrager 2.4 XR4’s and WTF!



What’s everyone running for tires?

I’m running the stock minion DHR 2s 29x2.4 ... have a lot more clearance than your picture shows. Maybe the tires wider than 2.4, have you measured it?

XR4 2.4 probably a 2.5/6 from other manufacturers. Came off my Django SMH.

Yeah looks it! Are you going to give them ago? Be interested if you get rubbing with them that close? I’m trying to figure out how fat I can go with tires for my Kona Wozo and there’s not a lot of clearance on that either so interested if you can ride fine with that little clearance?

I don’t think so. I’m not worried about lateral rub but any little thing stuck to the tire is going to raise holy hell. What moron thought having this limited clearance was good?

I had the same experience as Tinshield on my newly purchased 2020 Troy 29 Carbon bike.

A) it was impossible to install/aling the rear wheel in the frame dropouts without letting all of the air out of the tire

B) once installed, I had only 2mm of clearance between the tire and chainstay yoke

Mind you this was on Race Face Arc35 rim with Minion DHR 2.4 WT tire that come stock in this bike. For me, it was a deal breaker and I returned the bike for full refund. I think Devinci has some QC issues, as this was the 2nd bike they sent me, after some frame quality issues with the first bike that was shipped to me.

The new Django is advertised as fitting 2.6” wide tires. I’ve been wondering if the chainstays are interchangeable between the two models.

It does seem that a max tire width of 2.4” semi-defeats the purpose of superboost spacing

I don’t think going a little smaller on the rear tire will bother me much but it just seems silly.
