I've seen Boxxers on p.series bikes. A Sherman Slider with TPC+ would be amazing, but I think for the big hits, SPV Evolve is fine too.

sorta, his bike flew in to a tree and it snapped i belive..i dont think it snapped from a landing, although i have seen 100's of pics of different p. series bikes where DC forks just ripped the head tube right off on a 6+ foot drop..

His bike flew into a tree immediately after landing a drop.
Now which is easier to believe. 1) Repeated drops with a DC up front weakened and eventually cuased failure of the headtube or 2) A freak collision with a tree (imeediately after a big drop) was solely responsible for the failure.

I put my Super T on my P2 for about a week once. I didn't like the feel for dirt jumping. The front end was way to high, i suppose you would get used to it though. But for DH it felt great. But I still don't trust the head tube when the head angle is that raked out.

Ya, didn't ECH rip the headtube off his P bike?
He basically ran straight into a tree at full speed. He was still on the bike. Thats a lot of force in the opposite direction that the head tube is normally strained. Yes, the longer fork probably did give it more leverage, but come on, that coulda happened w/ many bikes.

it wouldn't have happened with a single crown fork. come on, the collision wih the three is like the feather that broke the camels back. a bike like the p isnt made to be run with such a huge dc fork. get a morphine or imperial or something.

Yes..........long forks on bikes not designed for long forks is brilliant.

Get a super monster. It's a perfect match.

I've got a shiver on my bmx bike. It rules.

i rode p bikes for 2.5 years and they rule at the dj's. but lets face it they cant handle dual crown forks. ech is just lucky he has not been seriously hurt putting one on his hardtails. here is the deal- its better to destroy a single crown forks bushings or a headset than to risk frame failure. p frames dont dissipate stress well up front- i always was wasting bushings and headsets. but thats better than tearing off the head tube. and i abused my p.1's. 50/50ed 25 foot dubs...... nose cased the same jumps many times. i even had a few slapper landings like ech and broke hubs/rims/headsets but the frame held.
i put my z150 on my p1 (same height as any 7" dual crown) and the bike handled like crapp. so why even do it? it ruins the bikes ability. i went to the dj's and was all over the place. put my dj3 (set at 130mm but about 2 inches lower than the z150 height wise) back on and shredded the jumps. tall forks are meant for certain bikes (like 6" fs frames and bigger). not hardtails.
if people want to argue this point fine. but remember that unless you have tested a ht with various forks its just e-speculation. todays single crowns are so nice and stiff that why even bother?
as we can see by ech's example, big time riding on a ht with a dual fork will cause a frame failure. period. those who run dual forks on hts and dont break frames dont go big enough to hurt the bike. but would anyone want to risk death when they started going big? and by big i mean the typical 10 foot drop or 20 foot dub-which aint really that big anyway. i have seen people do these stunts on ht's with 110mm dj forks. no problem.
original poster work on your skill. a sherman slider will not make you better on your bike. practice will. get a marz dj and shred.

well i never really said i needed a triple but i want a lot of travel, i dont think i would feel very confident when im lanching a 15 stair with 100mm of travel, the fork i already ahve has that much and it bottoms out on a 5 stair. i dont care how it handles its not like im gonna race the thing, all i want it big jumps.

i mean handling in dj/street riding. and if your using the stock fork its junk anyway. i had a 03 dj3 on my p1 and it did not bottom on 8' to near flat when i overshot dubs.
what fork are you using?

Sounds more like you need a good 5" fork with a stiff spring rather than a dh fork.

sometimes I run a sherman flick on my P.2, I got bored and put a slider on it. I dont ride crazy hard, but I can tell that if I did, that the frame would probably snap. try and find an older P.3 frame, I know they can take the abuse. I craked my 03 P.2 useing a 6" fork. it was craked on like a 10-15 foot drop though. Specialized sent me a new frame. but my friend has a 02 P.3 and it takes the abuse of the 66 just fine. go ahead and put something that has 150 or less travel, probably a Marzocchi drop off triple would be fine. but try and get a sherman flick or firefly, they should hold up to your abuse w/o raking the frame out as much.
