My 575 was stolen yesterday (thankfully before I put on my new RC2), the insurance money went to a new 6.6. Appreciate what the other Intensers think of the build...and where I should focus on upgrades in the future.

L 6.6, "the works" color with a RP23
Fox Talas 36 RC2
Race Face Diabolus X drive 175mm
SRAM x9 rear, XT front, SRAM x9 shifters
Juicy Sevens with 7 inch rotors
DT Classic 340 Trail Trail Wheelset 20mm front through axle, 10mm rear
Thompson post and stem, Answer Pro Taper bar
Mallet C pedals
Weirwolf 2.5s

I personally would put some lighter cranks on there just to save weight.

Even if you don't, you should have a very nice ride.

Hey KW, how are you liking the 6.6? Ever since I started riding my Uzzi, there's a little voice in my head telling me to sell the 5pack and get a 6.6.
I've got an uzzi as well and the many hours on that bike motivated me to buy my 6.6 without ever riding one. The uzzi (which I got just based on geo numbers and some m3 rides) and the 6.6 are the only frames I've ever bought without a test ride btw. But the way the m3, uzzi, 6.6 and 5.5 work seems to be similar enough accross the board.

But anyway............Yes. If you can, get it. You've got to really pay attention to your sag position for it to pedal and descend in the best way just like your uzzi but once you've got that dialed, it's light years better than a turner. You know how your uzzi is heavier but pedals up chop with regards to staying tracked and supple and not compressing under pedal load better than your turner? Same deal just lighter with the 6.6. And the foreward arc of the turners makes the high speed stuff kind more jarring than the way the vpp stuff works. But you know that. You already own one. Now just get a lighter one.:D

I've never ridden one of the 5-pack setups but I'm in minority when I say the turner xc-ish bikes don't have a geometry I like based on the 5-spots and rfx frames I've ridden. Too upright. I don't feel like that with my 6.6. I've ridden it the last 6 days straight I think and it freakin rails. I've got a maverick 6.6 with zero stack headset for whatever that's worth.

hey silverback, you readin this?;)

hmmm. may wanna consider a Maverick SpeedBall post or a Gravity Dropper. Not necessary, but I think you would really like that extra feature
I'm still waiting for the rapid fire spank me I'm a bad boy option.

Yeah, a couple of the parts say "more XC" but the diablolous cranks, and mallet C pedals definitely scream freeride/downhill. I'd also consider the Vanilla 36RC2 instead of the TALAS espcially if you are leaning more towards a All-mountain/FR build as opposed to more burly XC. I've never found a great need to drop the front end for climbing yet with the Van, it only weighs a bit more, it's super plush on the descents.. and it doesn't have some of the complexity and travel loss issues of the TALAS.

Nice build though. You're going to love it.

I am changing the cranks to Race Face Deus or Atlas, and I like the Mallet Cs because of the big platform. I am definitely trying for the more burly XC build than the Freeride-type build...
Rontele, just my .02 cents, but I would go with XT cranks over the Race face stuff. I have a couple of buddies running the raceface Deus, and Atlas, and they are a little finicky to setup, and the BB bearings have been acting up. I just picked up a new set of XT's, and they went on my 6-pack with no problems, I am running a Blackspire Stinger chain tensioner mounted to the ISCG tabs, and there were no compatibility issues. Just bolt and go. The XT's are sweet!

Chingon-

You are not the first person to mention the merits of the XT cranks over the Race Face Atlas. Since the bike is already in the process of being shipped and going to be built up over the next couple of days, I will take my chances with the Atlas. So STOKED.
