Did anyone try using a 230x65mm shock for the Trek Slash 2021/2022 models which require a 230x62.5 shock? If so does it fit?
How about a 230x60mm shock, how much travel would be reduced?

I just recieved my 2022 Slash and plan on replacing the stock Rock Shox SDU with a Fox DHX2. It will be the 230x65mm shock and I'm going to add the 2.5mm travel reducer to make it 230x62.5.

This is my recommendation if you can't locate a 230x62.5mm shock.

Increasing the stroke could lead to shock and frame interference issues, and decreasing just limits the travel your bike would have - so you always want to avoid messing with those unless you make absolutely sure your shock isn't going to damage your frame.
Thanks for the clarification. Fox doesn't offer the DHX2 in 230x62.5mm, closest would be the 230x65 or 230x60. What would be your recommendation? I saw a video of someone using the 230x65 and 2.5mm travel reducer and didn't indicate any issues so assumed that would work. Mitch your expertise would be appreciated, thanks.

Using the travel reducer would be my suggestion as well, so you're already on the right track!

I would also suggest testing the shock at full compression (which should be done with any bike when installing an aftermarket shock).
