Looking to buy a new bike around the £1500 mark
(I'd rather have a good hardtail as opposed to a mediocre full sus)

have whittled the choice down to between Trek 8500 and Klein Attitude XV

they spec pretty similar, only difference seems to be forks/frame/brakes

which is best value spec wise ?

which is lighter ?

There probably isn't that much difference between the two, since they're both Treks anyway. Even spec wise they are almost identical.

Have you test rode them? I think the biggest difference is the fork. See which one you like better between the Fox and Rock Shox.

I live a long, long way from dealers who stock the bikes, chances of a test are slim to none

thats why it's so hard to choose

Although these bikes both come from Trek, they are not identical. The Trek has a neutral geometry. The Klein is more aggresive - shorter chainstays, longer top tube, steeper head angle.
