So I'm building a Trek 69er. I am most curious about the wheelset. I am not afraid of building them myself, and want badass matching wheels. I am using a Fox fork for it, so the hubs will be standard q/r or 3/8 bolt on. I would prefer to have them both the same spoke count. Also, I would like matching rims and tires. The part that I am having trouble with is the rims. What are some awesome rims that come in 26 and 29er? Also, I have a complete parts list put together if you guys are curious about the rest.

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark :skep: and say Stans 355/Arch/Flows  take your pic depending on your terrain and riding style. The fox will either be 5mm QR or 15mm TA, so you can either use a standard 5mm QR or a DT RWS 9mm if you get the QR option or get the TA and a stiffer front end.

Here's a shot of my Trek http://forums.mtbr.com/showpost.php?p=6486940&postcount=16. I've changed out some parts. I've went back to the Bonty wheel set that came with the bike. I wanted to get a set of gold King hubs, but shiat keeps getting in the way. I had to get new pedals this week because I snapped a spindle this weekend. I've also changed out the saddle to a Fizik Aliante and seatpost to a Thomson. I think the white rims look sweet, but they show dirt very well...but it is a mountain bike. And I'd rather ride than clean my bike.

Also the rims are Velocity VXC or something. They worked out fine, but I prefer the wider stance of the Bonty rims. When funds free up I'm going to go with Stans and the King hubs.

Bontrager Dusters are tubeless bulletproof. 28mm wide and relatively light for a wide tubeless rim at 470g IIRC. Just as stiff as the Stans Flow but IMO the tubeless system is way better.

I ride the 28H version called the Rhythm Elite in both 26" and 29".

Yeah, I have contemplated my wheels all day. Basically, I have a Gary Fisher Rig, and I am getting the 69er frame to build up in place of my Rig, so I will get the frame, wheels and headset and most of my other stuff will swap on fairly easy til I get the new components. I am pretty sure I am going to go with Chris King SS hubset laced to Stans ZTR Crest white rims. For spokes, maybe 14/15/14 butted. Also for tires, I'm going to do Continental Race King 2.2 front and rear. Thanks so much for the suggestions and keep them coming! I love researching components and finding new stuff!

69er wheelset

Shameless plug... I have a killer 69er/96er wheelset I'm about to put up for grabs. It's an I9 factory build with Stans ZTR Flows. I had them installed on a single-speed Carver Ti 96er that I just never get to ride so I'm piecing it all out now. They are practically mint. Let me know if your interested. You would love them on this bike you are building.

Haha Man I would love to, but I work at a shop already and can get I9 and Stans, so you would have to go below cost for me to buy them. I really want you to get your money for them because they sound like gorgeous wheels! Just curious about the price, so PM me if you want don't want to just throw the price out. Got any pics of your Carver?

Also, I am 5' 6" and have a 30" inseam. Trek recommends that I get a small (15.5) frame, do you have any suggestions? I was thinking about maybe getting a 17.5, because that's what my current 29er is and feels good. If all goes as planned, I will order the frame by 7/16!

My Carver Ti 96er

As requested... and it's currently up for grabs. I'll most likely will be piecing it out and posting on MTBR Classifieds this weekend. Too many bikes, not enough time. I've since upgraded the bars to FSA Carbon risers, seatpost to FSA Carbon setback, Installed the REBA Pop-Lock, and upgraded the rotors to Avid G2's

Nice bike man! I think I am going to go with black Chris King Hubs, black DT spokes, black nipples and black Stans ZTR Crest rims. Murdered out!
