I was looking to put some heavier duty tires on my road bike for the winter. Does anyone know the maximum tire size you can use on a Trek 1000?

Trek makes lots of room on the low end bikes. 28mm should fit, maybe a 30mm cyclocross tire may fit. Post it over on the RBR Trek board, somemight might have a 1000 and they can measure for you.

I just took a look at a Trek 1200 that I have at the shop (same frame as a 1000) and I believe that a 700x30 is as large as you can go with that particular frame
