Just saw the numbers between BC and Washington State, BC would be quite reluctant to see the border open. The Federal Government has stated something similar to support the closure but you never know when things will change?
Should be interesting..........
The border is opening tonight to allow immediate families to re-unite, but there is an enforced 14 day quarantine period. And they are likely going to be checking truckers crossing the border more closely as well. The chances of recreational travel opening up by June 22 are pretty slim with the US covid count still going up, and the 14 day enforced quarantine means it would be a pretty dull trip if you could get across the border and have to sit in a quarantine camp somewhere. It's not likely that resort areas will be open to tourism from out of province for a couple of months.
"To be clear, the immediate family exemption does not mean the border will now be open to weekend travellers, or those seeking just to attend a personal or social gathering," said the minister.
Same here. Been crossing the border into BC many years and never a question about bikes or skis. But, returning from a family ski trip to Whistler January 2020 we were selected for agriculture inspection by US agent in the booth. He was sending most of his cars to secondary inspection. Weird. Agriculture inspection in January, well ok. The agent literally walked around the car opened a door and told us good to go. Maybe because the kids had the backseat looking like a tornado hit.
Yup. Looks like no Whistler bike trip this year.
