Where's your Reign X made??gunt pimp said:Boooo!!!!!!!!!
Yeah and your set up shot for the spike was not very well played.gunt pimp said:I'm new to mtbr forums . Sorry for not knowing everything thats been posted.
It dosen't matter to me if a bike isn't built in the U.S. I was just thinking that Transition Bike were built local.Chad_Money said:Its cool to have an opinion  Lots of people love USA made stuff and will only buy a frame if it is made in the USA. If you are curious about the difference do a search on just about any forum and you will get tons of opinions , some right on, some bad without any justification other than its made in another country. Transition adheres to one factory in Taiwan that is known for producing high quality frames , they go the extra mile and do factory tours once or twice a year to monitor QC and meet with the factory reps. They run a solid business and have awesome customer service and warranty for their product. Try one !![]()
So Chad, Covert or Rune? I like them both. But I can get a great deal on a Nomad. What ya think?Chad_Money said:The warehouse is in Ferndale, Washington , so it is a local company if you live in Bellingham or surrounding communities![]()
had a Rune for 1 year, now I got the new Covert and I think that the suspension works much better. go with the Covert, you won't regret it, oh and it looks much better in reality!gunt pimp said:So Chad, Covert or Rune? I like them both. But I can get a great deal on a Nomad. What ya think?
Hey GP, to really give you some feedback I need to know a few things..Where/how do you ride moslty? Freeridish or more AM? What is your current rig and why do you want to change? All three bikes you listed have very different characteristics . If I didnt know anything I would say it all depends on how good the deal would be on the Nomad and if it is a newer model that pedals better than the old one. I have logged time on all three bikes and have my own opinions about each, but different riding styles and areas where you ride can change opinions about each one.gunt pimp said:So Chad, Covert or Rune? I would say that most my riding is AM.I just got back into riding this summer after being off for about 8 years. I found a 09' Reign x1 for $1800 and went for it.Now I don't know if I'm feeling the Reign x.I would also like the option to run hammerschmidt and I don't think they will fit on the Reign x . I could be wrong about the Reign and it could be the just as good as all the other bikes. Is the Reign to much just for an AM ?It also could just be that I don't like the look of the REGN X .(LOL).I can get a new Nomad for about $1400(frame).Chad_Money said:Hey GP, to really give you some feedback I need to know a few things..Where/how do you ride moslty? Thanks. Coverts sound and look nice. Wish I could demo one before I make a choice.Chad_Money said:I will say this for sure, the Hammershmidt generally does not work well on a VP /dual linkage type suspension, and you can read about it on forums in MTBR and others so it is something that has been discussed already. So in this situation there is a good argument why the Covert will work better for you with a Hammershmidt. One of our shop guys had a Reign X for one season and and loved the Geo, but had other issues and traded up to a different rig altogether. Sounds like you can get a really good deal on the Nomad so that is a strong option for you..BUT, if your running a Hammershmidt, you could run into some issues... so, do some research , ask others how they are running their Nomad setups with Hammershmidts and go from there. Try the AM forum and you will find less biased opinions, even though I tried not to be we do love our Transitions:thumbsup:
I have spent a lot of time on a Covert and Reign X and a quick spin on a Nomad a few years ago but not enough to compare. For an AM bike I like the Covert over the Reign X for a few reasons even though I think the Reign X is a great bike. For a trail bike I like something that has a lively feel and is nimble with a touch of stability thrown in. The Covert is easy to manual, jump and has a poppy yet predictable feel in the corners and handles the rough very well for a trail bike. With a Rp23 you can stiffen up the shock to climb with the flick of a switch. The Covert is comfortable for extended hours in the saddle. The Reign X and Nomad are good bikes but I know every time I ride my Covert I have a blast.gunt pimp said:I would say that most my riding is AM.I just got back into riding this summer after being off for about 8 years. Anyway, thanks for taking time with my dumb ass.
