Okay guys, this is it! Send no money because it's a FREE event this year!

Here's how you do it: Get a standard post card and write the following on it.....

#1 Your Name, (You know it, you love it!)

#2 Category, (Choose one: Men's Open, Womens Open, and Mens/Womens Single Speed/Fixed)

#3 Your e-mail address, (strictly confidential and only used to keep you updated once you are on the roster)

#4 Your phone number (we prefer a cell # that can be used to call you during the event. If you do not have a cell phone, use your Dad's or somebodies, for crying out loud!)

All four requirements must be on each post card sent or the entry will not be valid in our eyes. We also reserve the right to refuse damaged, or unreadable post cards.

Put a postage stamp on it for the proper amount!

Send your post cards to this address: Europa Cycle and Ski
c/o Trans Iowa V3
4302 University Avenue
Cedar Falls, Ia 50613

Make sure you get them in by December 15th. Any cards recieved past this date will be disposed of and will not qualify for the lottery drawing to be held December 16th. The results of which will be posted at www.transiowa.blogspot.com and eventually here.

Okay, if ya want in, now's yer chance! We'll recycle all the post cards we recieve by making prayer flags out of them and putting them at the top of all the big climbs! :p So make sure they are pretty!

As a reminder to those who might have missed it, Trans Iowa is going to be held the weekend of April 28th-29th as a loop course of approximately 320 miles to be finished in 33 hours or less. The event is free, but is limited to a roster of 100 folks who will be chosen by lottery from a pile of postcards on the shop floor of Europa Cycle and Ski on December 16th. You may send as many or as few post cards as you deem necessary, but they all must be filled out with the required four parts of information described above. The post cards must be recieved in legible form and by no later than December 15th!

We make no money on this, (in fact we're losing money on the event....we're crazy like that) we do it for fun. Please keep that in mind, ya'all. Cheers!

Bummer!

Well, this just sucks! April 27-29 is about the only weekend this spring that I am not, and can not be, free for a race.

I'll follow this race with great interest. Good luck to everyone that gets in!

Local Hy Vee has a huge display. Several gift card shops have 'em, and I believe you can pick up generic ones at the Post Office. Shouldn't be a problem to make your own, if you have to.

One (1) vaguely metaphorical handmade card in the mailbox as of 5 minutes ago. If I get in, awesome. If not, KTR.

Lottery entry updates?

This may be asking alot... but is it possible to list updates on the number of people entered in the lottery so far? or even the point (if you get there) that there are more than 100 different entrants? If by Dec. 10, you have 200 different people trying for 100 spots, then I would probably send a few more postcards before the 15th.....

It's in the mail

I have just mailed my one post card and hope to get in. I am very excited for this event and this time I am entering the open field. I may ride fixed, depending on my fitness come April, but by entering open I have the option. And by entering "open" I can flip flop a fixed if I want to. ;) I don't think I have any prayer at winning this thing (I saw the competition last year, and I am not in the same class) and I just want to finish it. I guess you could say it is my white whale.

The rules say that everyone can enter as many times as they want. Those are the rules, and I can live with that. However, if everyone mails one post card, everyone gets the same chance. If everyone mails 30 post cards, everyone gets the same chance, but they all spent 30X as much. If someone puts in many more cards than someone else they are of course going to have better odds of getting in. But I don't think I am any more worthy than anyone else to get in, so I am going to put in my one card and hope that everyone else does the same. Then I am going to cross my fingers and hope that I make it in.

I hope everyone who wants in gets in, and I hope to see you all come April. Are there any Pizza Ranches in Decorah?

While we won't keep an exact tally, I think we will be able to give you a periodacal update on the "approximate" number of entries.

Hmmm.....I don't think there is a Pizza Ranch but there is something far better! :D Keep checking back for updates on the Friday meeting.

One post card

I will be mailing my one post card today. If we get close to the deadline and GT indicates that there are more than 100 entries then I will send in more.

Oh, there'll be more than 100, Paul. I'm entering like a "Chicago Democrat." . Figure it'll cut down on the competition on-a-cuz-a dead people dns.

"Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there

'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -

Shook me all night long

Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine
She wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me and came back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing

'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching..."

So does the winner need to consume the whole case at the first town? Not that I have a chance, but I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to help a brother/sister out.

Paddy is planning to donated an undisclosed amount of Guinness to the first racer to reach a designated point on the Trans-Iowa route. Mark and myself will choose this location. :)

If you want this "dark beverage" you'll just have to make sure you are out front
